Police Report. Two wilful fire raisings, one to a car and another at Mossedge Industrial Estate, were amongst the 56 crimes recorded in Linwood over the month of March, Community Constable Charles Butler reported. One of these had been directed at a car and the other in the Moss Road Industrial Estate. Twenty seven, around 50%., of the crimes resulted in a “detection” and a report to the procurator fiscal he said. Conditions at the Mount Royale Hotel were no worse than they had ever been with the police keeping a close watch on residents and liaising closely with management there. The Craig Road area of North Clippens is currently a black spot with congregations of youths and a potential for trouble but the police are paying close attention to this situation with extra police on duty at weekends. The constable also reported on a police swoop on commercial and private vehicles both in the grounds of the former Venture Inn and in the bus terminus on Clippens road. The Clippens Road activity was to stop and inspect selected cars for roadworthiness which had the startling result of over 50% of drivers being served with an improvement instruction and advised to get an MOT done immediately.
Linstone Report. Ms. Gray reported on a number of issues currently being looked at and applied by Linstone Housing Association including trials with controlled entry systems at part of Kintyre Avenue and other improvements.
